The 23rd Avenue Artwalk & Street Celebration happened back in 2012 as part of Calgary's year as Cultural Capital of Canada. It doesn't have anything to do with graphic recording or any of the other Sam-Hester-related professional information on this website. It's just hitching a free ride here so that it can still have a place on the internet for people who'd like to visit, or revisit, a very fun event. There are no plans right now for putting this event on again, but I guess you never know! - Sam Hester

The Artists' Avenue
23rd Avenue S.E., in Ramsay, is only two blocks long. Our fifty-one houses are home to artists and craftspeople whose talents include printmaking, knitting, visual arts, baking, ceramics, glassblowing, filmmaking, dance, music, and graphic design… not to mention some of the most spectacular gardens in the inner city.
On September 22nd, 2012, we transformed our street into a two-block-long temporary outdoor arts and crafts gallery on porches and front lawns! Right now we're still recovering from our busy day, but stay tuned as we pick up the pieces and, who knows... plan to do this again next year? -Sam Hester, 2012 Event Organizer |

Calgary is Awesome's Amy Jo Espetveidt gave our event a wonderful write-up full of really great pictures! Take a look here at their list of 2012 "Calgary Arts Round Ups" and scroll about halfway down the list until you see the great photo montage put together from our artwalk.
And take a look here to see a review of our event (including some awesome photos) by Calgary arts blogger Vincent Law, on his blog Binzento Vincente! Scroll down the page... it's just after his post about the Glenbow Museum's opening for its exhibition entitled Fairy Tales, Monsters, and the Genetic Imagination.
